The profession of a tester – unlike the professions of a programmer, artist, or 3D modeler – does not require special knowledge and skills to start a career in the gaming industry. The information obtained in our course is enough for you to start with the profession of Junior QA in almost any gaming company that needs such employees. The profession of a tester allows a specialist to develop rapidly both in the field of testing and to change specialization quite easily and master almost any other profession in the gaming industry.

Our course will give you a clear understanding of all the main aspects of the game tester profession, give you the opportunity to get a job as a QA gamedev, and for some, it may just open your eyes to the video game industry. It is easy to enter gamedev, as well as IT, from the position of a tester, in our case, a computer game tester. At the same time, you have the opportunity to get not only education and necessary knowledge, but also to start your career immediately after graduation.

  • Why is it important to know the development environment? What are the main tools to use? Terminology and information gathering.
  • What is a bug tracking system? How to write bugs? How and why does it work?
  • Testing methodology in GameDev QA. Types of testing, reading test documentation.
  • What is game mechanics? Analysis of the game on mechanics. Overlapping mechanics with tests.
  • Types of test documentation and working with them. Writing cases and plans.
  • What is the “All Pairs Testing Method”?
  • What are the peculiarities of working with a large number of platforms? Specifics of the most popular gaming platforms.
  • How to plan the work on the project in general and at the current stage?
  • How to implement a feature accounting system within the project.

Students of the course will perform practical homework that will allow them to practice the skills they have learned.
